OTTRA engaged in helping a provider of information technology services to support its offshore development community work in tandem with other development teams around the World. The RFP went out to 7 GitLab partners, but OTTRA were selected for their advanced capabilities in the security elements of the GitLab offering.
The initial solution was to implement GitLab for the remote developers leveraging the infrastructure available at the remote site. However, as the infrastructure couldn’t offer the performance required, OTTRA suggested and implemented a system leveraging Kubernetes to improve application and environment performance.
The organisation now benefits from an end-to-end development environment using GitLab for all elements, including security. In addition, working with OTTRA, the organisation has adopted Kubernetes in its development work. Both changes have to lead to a 50% reduction in the time it takes dev teams to bring ideas to production.
OTTRA will work with this customer as they continue their journey to cloud-native development. The foundation in place enables teams from different locations to onboard to the GitLab shared service as they can to further drive efficiency with software development.
This engagement worked well for OTTRA and the customer. This was another engagement were using a self-managed installation wasn’t the best option in terms of performance but was quickly rectified. What worked particularly well here was handing over the entire project to OTTRA.
